We went to Gati village, ward no# 9, in Sindhupalchok.
The village is an hour long uphill hike from Borderlands, but we took our time and took 3 hours to reach up top. As we hiked up we witnessed beautiful nature, mixture of dramatic clouds, green jungle dotted by blue and orange traps plus occasional landslides. After the quake 4 human casualties were reported, including the one from the host family, he was their youngest son, who secured first division in recent SLC.
About all the 110 houses collapsed except for a recently built block house and a Kindergarten (now marked unsafe). We distributed 120 School bags, stationery, and toys to school children. 21 bags + kits were sent to a Kindergarten ran by local and a cheerful Shaman in Mandray village, which was still 2 hours hike from our station, Gati. Rest of the bags were distributed Kindergarten to Class 5 of Government School students jun Gati.
Most of the students were either helping their parents in rice planting or away visiting their relatives in this monsoon vacation. So we left the absent students' bags + kits with local volunteer there, who will hand over the supplies to those kids upon their return to school. Medicines were provided to Gati Health Post, which was rebuilt from the foundation by Beebal Limbu, his friends and locals there. Volunteers of Acupuncture Without Borders (AWB) provided community-style acupuncture in-group settings for Post trauma stress disorder.
